Saturday workshop aimed at rural residents, horse owners

BURLINGTON - The Southeast Wisconsin Rural Landowner Workshop and Expo, set for Saturday here, will be a day-long program designed for rural landowners, horse owners/enthusiasts, existing farmers as well as people who are thinking about getting involved in a farm/agricultural enterprise.

The workshop will begin with a keynote presentation from Will Allen of Growing Power on composting. Then break-out sessions will be offered on topics including: identifying edible wild mushrooms; beginning beekeeping; heirloom vegetable production; horse nutrition; carbon credits; and much more.

The program will be held Saturday at Burlington High School from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Costs are $20 per person, $35 for two people or $10 for youths.
