The Journal Times has launched a new crime and courts page on their Web site today, which includes month-by-month maps of major crimes throughout the county.

The November map is available here. The October map is available here.

Each map includes the details and locations of major crimes, such as homicides, aggravated assaults, shootings and robberies for an entire month. Every month, a new map will be built on the Web site, updating our readers on when and where major crime is happening.

The user-friendly maps allow users to click on a pinpointed crime for a brief summary of what occurred. Below the map, corresponding pinpoints allow readers to pull up The Journal Times' entire story on the crime.

Users are able to zoom in on specific neighborhoods and streets to see exactly where crimes occurred.

In addition to the crime map, the crime and courts page will include the most recent crime and court stories that have appeared in The Journal Times.

A section dedicated to public safety will have Racine Neighborhood Watch meeting dates, time and locations, public safety information from local law enforcement and information from Crime Stoppers of Racine County.

Links to local law enforcement pages will also be available on the new crime and prevention page. They will include links to most police departments' own Web sites, along with links to "most wanted" pages and the Racine County Jail inmate search.
