Sean Riker, charged with battering his family after their move to Racine County several weeks ago, brings with him an extensive and violent criminal history.

He served time in federal prison for a series of bombings in St. George, Utah in 1995, months after Timothy McVeigh blew up the Murrah Federal Building in Oklahoma City. In St. George, Utah, a town in far southwestern Utah, bombs exploded at Star Flag and Display, Dixie Auto Sales, Woodward Elementary School and Agave bookstore. No one was injured in the explosions.

Riker and his then-girlfriend, Paula Castillo, were arrested that December and both were charged in federal court for the bombings.

Reports at the time suggested Riker had a long record of property crimes and other offenses, but none for hate crimes. In court last week, prosecutors said Riker has connections to the Aryan Brotherhood and a Nazi motorcycle gang.

In 1997, after his arrest for the bombings, Riker pleaded guilty to five counts of use of an explosive device.

At his sentencing, according to reports at the time, he said "I was totally out of control I'm looking forward to my rehabilitation."

United States District Judge Dee Benson questioned his sincerity, calling his criminal activities "despicable," the Associated Press reported. "Your record indicates you're not the contrite young man you present yourself to be in the courtroom," Benson said. "I'm not sure I believe that at all."

Riker was then sent to federal prison.

While in prison in Colorado, an inmate was stabbed to death. Mark Jordan has spent the past several years fighting his conviction for the murder, saying that Riker committed the crime. Riker was in the area, but witnesses said Jordan is the one that killed David Stone. Jordan continues to ask for additional DNA testing of the handle of the shank; DNA testing at the time was inconclusive.
