RACINE - The woman who shot and killed a man outside his home in June 2007 has been sentenced to prison.
Tammy D. Franklin, 35, shot and killed 54-year-old Matthew Thomas Jr. outside his home in the 900 block of Hamilton St.
Witnesses told police they saw the two arguing before the shooting. Police found Franklin hiding beneath the rear siding of a nearby home about 15 minutes after the shooting.
Franklin will serve 35 years in prison and 20 years on extended supervision for the shooting. She was initially charged with first-degree intentional homicide, which carries a mandatory life sentence, but pleaded no contest to a reduced charge of first-degree reckless homicide while armed.
