RACINE

Gun, electronics taken in burglary

Racine police were called to a home in the 4600 block of Haven Avenue Nov. 3 at 10:39 a.m. for a report of a burglar alarm. When officers arrived, the resident of the home found nothing out of place.

Reports said five hours later the resident's daughter noticed a laptop computer missing. Police were called back to the home where it was discovered that someone entered the house through an unlocked bedroom window.

Taken in the break-in were the computer, an MP3 player and a .45-caliber handgun.

Two arrested for fight involving gun

Racine police were called to a fight involving a gun Nov. 4 at 3:18 p.m. in the 1100 block of Racine Street.

A witness told officers that a fight between two women escalated when a man hit a 17-year-old girl in the face with a gun. Reports said the gun was then dropped and picked up by another woman involved, who pointed it at the crowd outside.

Police were directed to an apartment in the 1100 block of Washington Avenue, where witnesses said the male and female suspect fled to.

Shatina Walls, 17, was arrested for disorderly conduct and Demonte Moore, 22, was arrested for battery and disorderly conduct while armed.

Police recovered the gun, which turned out to be a BB gun.

Boy robbed at bus stop

A 13-year-old boy told Racine police he was robbed of $13 while waiting for the bus outside Starbuck Middle School, 1516 Ohio St., Nov. 3.

Reports said the victim and some friends were waiting for the bus at 3:45 p.m. when an older teen suspect came up and asked them for $1. The victim pulled $13 from his pocket, preparing to give the suspect a dollar.

Police said the suspect grabbed the boy's money, pushed him to the ground and fled.

Fight leads to facial wound

Racine police were called to a fight Nov. 4 at 7:30 p.m. in the 2500 block of Jacato Drive.

Reports said a 37-year-old woman told officers she had an argument with her boyfriend, who punched her in the face. The woman fell to the ground and suffered a laceration to her head.

Racine rescue transported the woman to Wheaton Franciscan-All Saints hospital, 3801 Spring St. Report said she was treated for a laceration above her eye, which required stitches.

Police said a warrant recommendation for aggravated battery was submitted for the suspect.

Stove fire contained

A stove fire the morning of Nov. 4 was contained by firefighters but caused about $1,000 in damage, said Racine Fire Department Battalion Chief Mike Irish.

The department responded to a call of fire Nov. 4 around 10:30 a.m. in the 1200 block of Melvin Avenue. Firefighters found a small stove fire and contained it to the stove area, which was where the damage occurred, Irish said.
