RACINE - A suspected burglar of Hot Shop Glass, 239 Wisconsin Ave., was caught on surveillance video in the back alley behind the store, according to Doug Chaussee, one of the store's owners.

Chaussee released the video on Wednesday, hoping that someone might recognize the alleged burglar. He also wants to warn other Downtown businesses and see if any of them saw the man.

Hot Shop Glass was burglarized Oct. 14 at 4:11 p.m. The owners believe the man in the video entered the unlocked back alley door while co-owner Amanda Cosgrove Paffrath was out in front of the building working on flower beds.

The burglar stole Cosgrove Paffrath's wallet, which was recovered a week later in the Jacato Drive area, minus the money it had contained.

"He is carrying a knapsack-like bag that appears very heavy, perhaps books," Chaussee said. "Perhaps other businesses in the Downtown were visited by the guy that day and might have information about him."
