BAUMGARTNER IN CREW OF UW-PARKSIDE'S 'BRIGHTON BEACH MEMOIRS'

SOMERS - Mark Baumgartner of Racine serves as assistant director for Parkside Theatre's production of Neil Simon's acclaimed comedy "Brighton Beach Memoirs." Performances continue at 7:30 p.m. Thursday through Saturday in the UW-Parkside Communication Arts Theater, 900 Wood Road.

The stage is transformed into a crowded Depression-era Brooklyn apartment, home to Eugene Jerome, who narrates the play, and his extended family. Eugene dreams of girls and of playing for the New York Yankees, but he is about to discover his true calling.

In addition to serving as a crew member for previous Parkside Theatre productions, Baumgartner most recent on-stage roles include Ewart Dunlop, part of the impromptu barbershop quartet, in "The Music Man;" and a part in the 2008 production of Shakespeare's "The Winter's Tale."

BARTLETT RECEIVES UW-PLATTEVILLE COMMUNITY SCHOLARSHIP

PLATTEVILLE - Philip M. Bartlett received a University of Wisconsin-Platteville Community Scholarship for Park High School through the UWP Foundation. The UW-Platteville Community Scholarship Program is designed to focus community support to the high school of a donor's choice.

Bartlett, son of Tim and Catherine Bartlett of Racine, is a freshman at UW-Platteville majoring in mechanical engineering. He graduated from Park High School in 2009.

The goal of the UW-Platteville Community Scholarship Program is to provide assistance to graduating high school seniors who will attend UW-Platteville. Any graduating high school senior in a participating community accepted into UW-Platteville is eligible to receive this scholarship.

FRANK PARTICIPATES IN FALL ATHLETICS

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - Coe College student Lisa Frank is playing on the 2009-10 Coe soccer team, The Kohawks. Frank, a graduate of The Prairie School, is the daughter of Robert and Kerry Frank of Racine.
