RACINE - The theme for this year's National Lutheran Schools Week, March 1-7, is "Securing Each Child's Future - For Eternity."

The theme is based on the Bible verse John 3:16.

St. John's Lutheran School will celebrate National Lutheran Schools Week with various activities. In order to serve the community, the first- through fourth-grade Rangerettes are leading a collection of new coloring books and crayons to donate to the Children's Hospital of Wisconsin. The culmination of this project will be during National Lutheran Schools Week.

The week's activities:

Sunday: All students will lift their praises up to God through singing during the 9 a.m. worship service. Attendees will also kick off our Scholastic Book Fair on Sunday after church.

Monday: Students will wear blue and white to show their school spirit. Students will join other Lutheran schools in town for an opening worship service at Racine Lutheran High School. That night, students will participate in the St. John's Quiz Bowl.

Tuesday: Students will show their creativity with Crazy Hair or Hat Day. Third- through fifth graders will attend "Music for Kids." The whole school will enjoy the "Creatures of the Night" presentation by David Stokes.

Wednesday: Students will show their style with Dress Up Day. We will also be hosting Grandparents Day. Grandparents are invited to spend the morning in the classroom and join us for lunch.

Thursday: Students will get comfy with Pajama Day. The whole school body will have some fun with St. John's Family Feud.

Friday: Students will explore the past with Decade Day. We will have a Pep Rally with performances by the cheer squads and a Faculty versus eighth grade volleyball game. That night, we will enjoy Family Pizza and Game Night at the school.

Saturday: Fifth- and sixth-grade students are invited to Racine Lutheran High School for a morning of fun and games.
