NATIVE AMERICAN HERITAGE MONTH AT GILMORE MIDDLE SCHOOL

RACINE - November is a celebration of the history and culture of America's original inhabitants. From an early beginning as an effort to gain one day of recognition, Native American Heritage month is now a month-long celebration of more than 275 tribes. From humble beginnings in 1912, Dr. Arthur C. Parker, a Seneca, is the individual credited with the many celebrations we see today. Students and staff at Gilmore Middle School celebrate five years of honoring America's original inhabitants with several events.
