CASE HIGH SCHOOL FALL 2009 SPORTS INFORMATION

Mount pleasant - Case High School,

7345 Washington Ave., has announced the school's 2009-10 fall sports information. All student athletes must have a practice permit before he/she can go out for a fall sport. All necessary forms can be picked up in the Case High School Activities Office or the Main Office throughout the remainder of summer.

To receive a permit, athletes must have a green WIAA physical/waiver card or beige Alternate Year card, their sports user fee which is $60 per sport - $180 maximum per family - and two sport emergency cards must be filled out to provide information to coaches and athletic trainers when needed during the season.

There will also be a general athlete/parent meeting at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday in the theater at Case High School. Following the meeting, each coach will have individual team meetings. Athletic permits will be issued until 8 p.m. that evening.

The Activities Office will be open to issue permits from 8 to 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 11, 17 and 18. The Activities Office will be staffed full-time starting Aug. 19. Athletes are expected to be ready for practice at their designated date and time with all necessary forms turned in.

Start times and head coaches for fall sports are:

• Girls' swimming- The head coach is Frank Michalowski. Start date is Aug. 11. Practice will be from 8 a.m. until noon in the Case High School Pool.

• Girls' golf - The head coach is Pete Berry. Start date is Monday. Practice will start at 1 p.m. at the Ives Grove Golf course.

• Girls' tennis - The head coach is Cassie Kuranz. Start date is Aug. 11. Practice will be 8 until 10 a.m. and noon until 2 p.m. daily.

• Girls' volleyball - The head coach is Willie Maryland. Start date is Aug. 17. New players practice from 8 until 10:30 a.m. and returning players practice from 10:45 a.m. until 1:30 p.m.

• Boys' and girls' cross-country - The head Coaches are Jenny Orlando and Otha Frazier, respectively. Start date is Aug. 17. Meet in the Cafeteria at 8 a.m.

• Football - The head coach is Gregg Brenner. Equipment handout will be on Monday. Seniors will start at 8 a.m., juniors at 9 a.m., sophomores at 10 a.m. and freshmen at 11 a.m. Practice for sophomores, juniors and seniors will start at 8 a.m. Aug. 11. Practice for freshmen will begin at 2:30 p.m. Aug. 17.

• Boys' soccer - The head coach is Jeff Lee. Start date for boys' soccer is Monday. First week practice starts on the soccer fields at 7:30 until 9:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. Athletes should come prepared with running shoes, shin guards, soccer shoes and water.

• Boys' volleyball - The head coach is Kerry Timler. Start date is Aug. 24. New players practice from 10 until 11:30 a.m. Returning players practice from noon until 2:30 p.m.

HEAD START PRESCHOOL ENROLLMENT TODAY

RACINE - The Racine/Kenosha Community Action Agency Head Start Program will hold free preschool enrollment from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. today.

The Racine/Kenosha Community Action Agency Head Start program is a free pre-school for children ages 3-5. Four locations are available: 1032 Grand Ave., 1923 Green St.,

1100 Main St., Union Grove and 209 Wainwright, Burlington. The Racine/Kenosha Community Action Agency has begun accepting applications for the 2009-10 program year.

APPLICATIONS ACCEPTED FOR H.O.P.E. PROGRAM

RACINE - Horlick High School will accept applications for the incoming freshmen class to be involved in the H.O.P.E. (Horlick Opportunities for a Positive Education) program this summer at Horlick High School, 2119 Rapids Drive. This is an opportunity to get acquainted with the school environment. Incoming students will have a chance to experience the high school by talking to student leaders, participating in field trips and receiving information on school sports, clubs and activities. Two one-week sessions are available in August, the first from

Aug. 11-14 and the second from Aug. 18-21. Each session will run from 8 a.m. to noon.

PROJECT NEW LIFE TO HOST 10TH ANNUAL BACK-2 SCHOOL COMMUNITY EVENT

RACINE - Project New Life Community Development Corp. will host the 10th Annual Back-2-School community event on Aug. 22.

The event will feature free backpacks for children and youth from kindergarten through high school, free hair cuts, free food, face painting and much more. This event will also include information on voter registration, immunization and Lighted Schoolhouse programming for the 2009-10 academic year.

OPEN HOUSE AT SUNSHINE MOUNTAIN PRESCHOOL

RACINE - Sunshine Mountain Preschool, located at Christ Church, 5109 Washington Ave., will host an open house from 3 to 6 p.m. Wednesday.

Come and meet the teachers, view classrooms and be introduced to our unique preschool experience. Classes are offered from 8:30 until 11 a.m. Monday, Wednesday and Friday; Tuesday and Thursday; or Monday through Friday for children ages 2 » to 5 years of age. Independence, social building skills and introduction to all kindergarten readiness concepts are the core of the curriculum. HORLICK STUDENT GOVERNMENT HOSTS ANNUAL FLEA MARKET

RACINE - Horlick High School Student Government is hosting its annual Horlick Flea Market Nov. 21 at the school, 2119 Rapids Drive. Doors open at 8 a.m. and close at 4 p.m.

KANSASVILLE SCHOOL SETS REGISTRATION

KANSASVILLE - Registration for the 2009-10 school year will be held from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Aug. 12 at Kansasville Elementary School, 4101 S. Beaumont Ave.

To be eligible for kindergarten, children must be 5 years old on or before Sept. 1. When registering, parents must bring a copy of their child's birth certificate or baptismal record for confirmation of their date of birth, and the child's complete immunization record. Registration fees for the year are $20 per student.

An open house will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Aug. 27. The first day of school is Sept. 1.

BURLINGTON HIGH SCHOOL SETS REGISTRATION DATES

BURLINGTON - The 2009-10 registration times and dates are 7 a.m-1 p.m. and

3-8 p.m. Aug. 12-13 at Burlington High School,

400 McCanna Parkway. Students are asked to bring their registration packets.

Pre-registration is being held from 7 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. until Friday.

UNION GROVE HIGH SCHOOL SETS REGISTRATION DATES

UNION GROVE - Registration for the 2009-10 school year will be held from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Aug. 11 and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Aug. 12 for all students at Union Grove High School, 3433 S. Colony Ave. Students are asked to enter through the north entrance.

Freshman orientation will be held at 7 p.m. Aug. 31 in the Performance Center. This orientation is for all incoming freshman as well as any students that are new to the district.
