A bipartisan group of lawmakers is introducing legislation that would require regional representation on the Wisconsin Board of Veterans Affairs.
Reps. Christine Sinicki and Mark Gottlieb and Sens. John Lehman and Robert Cowles are holding a news conference in Milwaukee on Monday to announce details of the bill.
Critics have long complained that most of Wisconsin's veterans live in southeastern Wisconsin, but the board that oversees the Wisconsin Department of Veterans Affairs does not adequately represent them.
Four of the current seven members appointed by Gov. Jim Doyle live in Dane County while the others come from central, northern and western Wisconsin. None come from the Milwaukee area.
