Through Sept. 7

"Sunny & Chair…Summer '09 Tour" Public Art Event: Eighth annual public art event featuring 53 artistically adorned Adirondack chairs on display along Main and Sixth streets in Downtown Racine. The chairs will be auctioned to the highest bidders at a public auction Sept. 12 at Memorial Hall, 72 Seventh St. Walking maps will be available from area merchants mid-June.

Waterford River Rhythms: First and third Thursdays, June through August, at Village Hall Park, 123 N. River St., Waterford. 6:30-8:30 p.m. Free. People should bring their own chairs and blankets and may carry in their own food and beverages or purchase food from vendors.

Music at the Monument: Outdoor concert by the Roy Edwards Band on Monument Square in Downtown Racine. 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Free. Chairs and umbrellas are provided.

First Fridays: Main and Sixth streets, Racine. More than 40 Downtown Racine shops and galleries are open until 9 p.m. Enjoy music both in the stores and on the sidewalks, horse-drawn carriage rides and more.

June 7

Hot Rod Power Tour: Downtown Racine. This free event is for all muscle car enthusiasts. Racine is Day 2 of a seven-day tour which extends from Madison to Bristol, Tenn. Locals are encouraged to showcase their pride and joy along with the 1,500 "long-haulers" who do the entire tour. See over 3,000 autos all shined and revved up on the lakeshore. Free for spectators. Union Grove Lions Club Chicken Barbecue & Classic Car, Motorcycle and Van Show: Racine County Fairgrounds, 19805 Durand Ave., Yorkville. This 27th annual community event featuring barbecued chicken by Union Grove Lions Club, 10:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Indoor seating or drive-through carryouts (Gate 6). Advance barbecue tickets cost $8 for adults and $5.50 for children 12 and under. Tickets are 50 cents more at the gate. Advance tickets from Lions Club members and in Union Grove at Grove Insurance, Aurora Pharmacy, Al's Piggly Wiggly and Union Grove Lumber. Wind Point Lighthouse Tour to the Top: 4625 Lighthouse Drive, Wind Point. Friends of the Wind Point Lighthouse will hold a climb to the top of the 108-foot structure. Racine Lighthouse Band Championships: Hammes Field at Case High School, 7345 Washington Ave., Mount Pleasant. 7 p.m. (rain or shine). July 4

Racine 4th of July Parade: The Midwest's largest July 4th parade begins at 9 a.m. at the intersection of Goold and Main streets. Pre-parade begins at 8:15 a.m. Fire engines, tractors, police vehicles, floats, and living replicas of national monuments. The theme this year is "Summer in Racine." The fireworks begin at dusk.

Union Grove Independence Day Parade: Highways 45 and 11, Union Grove. 9:30 a.m. More than 100 units travel from the high school on Highway 45 to the Racine County Fairgrounds on Highway 11. Preceded by children's parade.

4th Jam for Uncle Sam: Racine on the Lake Festival Park, 5 Fifth St., Racine. Immediately following the 4th of July parade until 11 p.m. VIP advance purchase VIP package for $20 includes admission, preferred and secured parking and pork plate dinner.
