Award-winning chanteuse and internationally acclaimed songwriter Tori Sparks will play for the first time in Wisconsin during her Fall 2008 Tour. She will play three daytime engagements at each of the Gateway Technical College campuses. Each show will start at 11:30 a.m. and will take place Tuesday in Elkhorn, Wednesday in Kenosha and Oct. 30 in Racine. There is no charge for the all-ages shows.
Sparks calls Nashville home but spends most of her time on the road in the United States and Europe.
Called "a knockout" by the Village Voice, her dynamic live show is equal parts soulful singing and zany stand-up-style humor. Tori's latest album, "Under This Yellow Sun" was produced by David Henry and features players such as Steve Bowman (Counting Crows), Aaron Sands (Jars of Clay) and John Deaderick (Patty Griffin, Lucinda Williams).
"Under This Yellow Sun" is Tori's third release, the first on her own record label, Glass Mountain Records. It was recently licensed to MTV, Lifetime and Oxygen Networks for use in their 2008 television programming. Tori's single "Cold War" is also featured on the newly released Universal Music France double-disc compilation, and the Paste Magazine New Music Sampler (Issue No. 43).
