WISCONSIN - The state Department of Health Services announced Tuesday that uninsured Wisconsin residents can get free outpatient evaluations and treatments for influenza-like symptoms, according to a press release from the department.
To get free services, uninsured individuals must use health care providers within the state's provider network. To find a provider within the network, call 211 or a local health department, the release said.
At medical visits, uninsured individuals will still be charged for services not related to the flu, the release said.
Offering the free services is a move designed to protect all Wisconsin residents, especially those at high-risk for complications from influenza, according to the release.
"Early diagnosis and treatment of this virus is especially important no matter what a person's insurance status may be," Seth Foldy, state health officer, said in the release.
