Deveron Davis scored two second-half touchdowns and the Racine Threat rallied to defeat the Leyden Lions 30-27 in a Mid-States Football League playoff game Saturday at Hansen Stadium in Chicago.
Racine (8-2), which brought only 30 players to the game, committed three first-half turnovers and trailed 27-6 with 2 minutes left in the first half when Alfredo Jackson started the comeback. Jackson took the ball off a double reverse and ran 32 yards for a touchdown. The two-point conversion made the score 27-17.
Davis took over in the second half. The former Racine Lutheran High School standout intercepted a pass and returned it 45 yards for a touchdown, pulling the Threat within 27-22. Davis gave the Threat the lead on a 3-yard touchdown run.
The Threat will play the Chicago Thunder (10-0) in the MSFL Western Conference Championship at 1 p.m. Sunday in Chicago. The Thunder defeated the Threat 42-6 June 24.
