The Catholic Central High School football team was the definition of dominant in its 65-0 victory over Shorewood/Messmer in a nonconference game at Burlington.
Catholic Central (3-1) was nearly unstoppable on offense, wracking up 475 yards, including 354 on the ground. Brian Fliess used his legs (171 yards on 10 carries) and his arm (7 for 11 passing, 87 yards) to total 258 yards of total offense and five touchdowns. He scored on runs of 12, 53 and 55 yards and threw scoring passes to T.J. Floyd (10 yards) and Will Paulus (54 yards).
Jeremy Williamson scored two touchdowns and had 117 yards rushing on 12 carries.
Floyd earned Hilltoppers coach Tom Aldrich's praise for his performance on both sides of the ball. In addition to the touchdown reception, Floyd had four solo tackles, forced a fumble and returned an interception 13 yards for a touchdown on the Greyhounds' first offensive series of the second half.
Shorewood/Messmer (0-4) had 6 total yards on offense, passing for 11 yards and running for minus-5, and did not get a first down.
"It was a good game for our kids," Aldrich said. "A lot of kids had opportunities (to play) and they started to show us some things. Their hard work is paying off.
"I thought our offensive line played better this week. We controlled the line of scrimmage."
