UW-Parkside sophomore Mike Keller had rounds of 73, 77 and 76 for a 226 total that tied him for 17th place at the two-day Triton Collegiate Golf Invitational at WingHaven Country Club in O'Fallon, Mo.
Led by Keller, the Rangers shot 319-305-297 for a 921 total and eighth-place finish in the tournament held Monday and Tuesday.
Drury University won the tournament with an 882, four shots ahead of fellow Great Lakes Valley Conference member Northern Kentucky.
Thomas Hay of Drury won medalist honors with a 207 total, shooting rounds of 68, 72 and 67.
Also for Parkside, sophomore Andy Hansen shot 228 (78-75-75) and tied for 25th, senior Matt Gilliland shot 232 (80-78-74) and tied for 35th, senior Nathan Young shot 235 (88-75-72) and tied for 43rd and junior Garrett Thompson shot 260 (95-83-82).
Women's cross country
PARKSIDE: Senior Valerie Hubbard was selected the Great Lakes Valley Conference Runner of the Week after her performance at the Indiana Wesleyan Invitational Oct. 6.
Hubbard, from Norwalk, Wis., placed fourth overall in the 5,000-meter race, battling hot and humid conditions to finish in 18 minutes and 56 seconds. Her efforts helped the Rangers score 34 and place second in the meet.
Parkside is ranked No. 8 among NCAA Division II schools and is second in the Great Lakes Region behind Grand Valley State.
