CARTHAGE 79, EAST-WEST 56: Red Men dominate first half

Guard Trey Bowens was 4-for-7 from 3-point range while scoring 26 points and the Carthage College men's basketball team defeated East-West University 79-56 in a nonconference game Wednesday at Kenosha.

The Red Men (3-0) shot 45 percent from the field including 37 percent from 3-point range.

Carthage took control of the game in the first half, taking a 42-22 halftime lead.

Guard Steve Djurickovic scored 25 points and had six rebounds and four assists.

Forward Billy Shemerdiak had a double-double for the Red Men, scoring 16 points and grabbing 11 rebounds.

The Red Men also forced 26 turnovers and limited East-West to 39.3 percent shooting.

E.J. Ollison led the Phantoms (2-5) with 18 points, seven rebounds and four assists.
