So far, Mother Nature has had the upper hand in the NCAA Division III Central Regional Baseball Championship.

Play in the tournament, featuring Carthage College of Kenosha and UW-Whitewater, was postponed by rain for a second time Friday at Moline, Ill.

All second-round games were postponed and rescheduled for today and Sunday.

Top-seeded Carthage (33-6), which opened with an 8-7 victory over Fontbonne University Thursday, will play 25-11 Washington University (Mo.) at 1 p.m. Saturday.

Third-seeded UW-Whitewater (27-17), coached by Racine native John Vodenlich, will play Millsaps (33-8) at 4 p.m.

If Carthage wins, it will play the Whitewater-Millsaps winner at 7 p.m. If Carthage loses to Washington, it will play the Fontbonne-Wartburg College winner at 7 p.m.

Golf

CARTHAGE: Senior Tyler Wollberg (Mundelein, Ill., team-leading 73.1 season average) missed the cut at the NCAA Division III Men's Golf Championship at Port St. Lucie, Fla.

Wollberg was tied for 90th place after the first two rounds with a 76-79-155 and did not make the cut for the final two rounds. Wollberg played in last year's championship, also as an individual, and tied for 15th place with a 76-73-77-74-300.
