The Racine Threat will be counting on several former Racine Park High School standouts when they make their 2009 Mid-States Football League regular-season debut Saturday night.

Quarterback Ben Adrian, an ex-Park star, will spearhead the Threat's offense in their game against the McHenry (Ill.) Pirates at Ameche Field in Kenosha. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.

Adrian will be joined in the backfield by fellow Park alum Greg Sanders. Sanders is the reigning MSFL Offensive Player of the Year.

Two other former Panthers will play important roles for the Threat offense: Alfredo Jackson returns at one of the wide receiver positions and Erik Olsen returns at starting right guard.

Defensively, one of the Threat's top performers is defensive end James Herbrechtsmeier.

The Threat, who are coached by former Park and University of Wisconsin star running back Brent Moss, are coming off a 34-19 loss to the Menomonie-Marinette Timberwolves.

The Threat posted a 9-6 overall record last season, 7-3 in the MSFL.

The MSFL will consist of 14 teams this season. McHenry is one of the league's five new teams.

Ticket prices for Saturday night's game are $5 for adults and $3 for children who are six or younger.
