It was a lean season for the big three high school football teams in Racine and that was reflected in selections for the
All-Southeast Conference football team.
Just one player from Case, Horlick or Park was selected to the All-SEC first team and that was junior wide receiver Andrew Murriel of Horlick. He was the top vote-getter among SEC coaches at wide receiver.
There were nine players picked for the second team, five on offense and four on defense.
The five offensive players are senior offensive lineman Kyle Deavers, senior running back Moriarity Brown-Griffin and sophomore punter Nick Kuroski of Park and senior wide receiver Jermain Clemon and senior quarterback Kellen Miller of Horlick. The four defensive players are senior defensive lineman Chris Mason and senior defensive back JaSchiro Willis of Case, junior inside linebacker Sam Azarian of Horlick and senior defensive back Troy Collier of Park.
Players of the Year were junior quarterback Gino DeBartolo of Kenosha Bradford on offense and senior lineman Zac Epping of Kenosha Tremper on defense.
The Coach of the Year was Jed Kennedy of Bradford and the team sportsmanship award went to Tremper.
GIRLS VOLLEYBALL: Megan Schroeder of Case led an all-senior cast on the All-Southeast Conference first team.
Schroeder, an outside hitter, was named the conference Player of the Year. She was joined on the seven-player first team by senior outside hitter/setter Kara Casebolt of Horlick. Muskego had three players on the first team and two more on the second team.
Freshman outside hitter Myanna Ruiz of Park was named to the second team.
BOYS VOLLEYBALL: Two Racine County seniors earned first-team honors on the All-Southeast Conference team.
Outside hitter Dillon Martinez of Horlick and libero Mike Porcaro of Burlington, both seniors, were voted onto the eight-member first team as voted on by the SEC coaches.
Earning second-team honors were outside hitter/setter Kevin Robers of Burlington, outside hitter Zak Thompson of Case, outside hitter Devon Thomas of Horlick and outside hitter/middle hitter Brandon Benko of Park, all seniors.
The SEC Player of the Year was senior outside hitter Jim Schultz of Westosha Central, co-champion of the conference with Horlick.
BOYS SOCCER: Racine teams did not have any first-team players, but three earned second-team All-Southeast Conference honors.
Horlick senior defender Logan Neibaur and junior midfielder Dustin Ashley of Horlick and senior goalkeeper Andrew Kirchner of Park earned second-team honors as selected by the conference coaches.
The Player of the Year in the SEC was junior midfielder David Caban of Kenosha Tremper.
